What is Credentialing?

Credentialing is a formal process used to verify, validate, and recognize an individual's knowledge, skills, training, experience, and professional competence in a specific discipline. Within the fire service and special operations community, credentialing confirms that personnel have met established standards through documented education, training, operational experience, and demonstrated proficiency.

A professional credential serves as evidence that an individual possesses the qualifications necessary to safely and effectively perform specialized duties in areas such as technical rescue, hazardous materials, incident management, and other emergency response disciplines.

Benefits of Credentialing:

Advanced Rescue Commission, ARC, has developed eleven credentials, all with differing levels of ability, leadership and management, within a team.  These credentials have been developed to provide a standardized framework to professionally recognize Special Operations personnel, from the newest trained to the highest level trained individual.  Each credential is a progression of the previous, to promote professional development of the individual, their skillset, and their leadership/management future.  All credentials have prerequisites that must be met, prior to being awarded the credential.  Applications will be thoroughly reviewed by the advisory board, then voted on for credentials to be awarded.
